Confidence in Fly Fishing by Cameron Larsen - Fly Fishing Articles:
by Cameron Larsen
For those of you who, like me, have memories of fishing that pre-date memories of school, think back to as many fishing partners and trips as you can. Even those people you only went fishing with once. Then try to recall times where the success or failure of a fly fisherman seemed to lie strictly on the fly fisherman's confidence. If you think about it in these terms, I bet you can remember numerous times when an angler's confidence, or lack thereof, either doomed them or buoyed them until they started catching fish.

"COOKING TIP........."
Aldered Smoked Salmon: Main Ingredient - One successful Salmon fisherman
who has prepared Salmon filets at least 1 inch thick. Rub filets with a thick Garlic Salt and Brown Sugar mixture. Let marinate for 6 or more hours.
Overnight is good. In a smokehouse or Cooker build a smoldering fire from fresh (green) Alder limbs. Fire should not be allowed to flame and will need to be tended for 6 to 8 hours. Spray bottle or squirt gun work great keeping the flames out. Place Salmon filets on racks above the open fire and allow to cure 6 to 8 hours.
Desired doneness, filet size and practice will make your Aldered Smoke Salmon very special.

Tie your flies, or egg on a fisherman with these books
By Gary Lewis For The Register-Guard
When I was a kid I read an article in 'Salmon Trout Steelheader' magazine about egg flies. Interested, I decided to ask about egg flies the next time I rode my 10-speed to Greased Line Fly Shoppe in Vancouver, Wash., my favorite hangout.

CURRENT REPORT FROM
CURRENT REPORT FROM PHIL ON THE SILETZ RIVER
Siletz River Report fished two clients yesterday, river was 5’ and cloudy with snow melt, very late start, client left fishing licenses in Portland, so we had to wait for Fred’s to open and buy a replacement, also check to make sure you have your tag. Very few people fishing, maybe they know something I don’t. We landed one large hatchery steelhead and lost another one for 6 miles of fishing. Slow day fishing, but great weather. Steelhead should keep coming in till the middle of April. Spring Chinook fishing on Tillamook Bay starts the end of April. If you have a boat and would like to try for springer, contact me at home and we can go over the locations and tackle required.

Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds Welcome to the Oregon Plan
Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds Welcome to the Oregon Plan:
For Salmon and Watersheds Salmon, and the rivers that are their home, are fundamental and treasured elements of Oregon's diverse landscapes. The Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds is Oregon's cooperative effort to restore salmon runs, improve water quality, and achieve healthy watersheds and strong communities throughout the state.
Such an effort cannot succeed through laws and government actions alone, and so the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds also relies on Oregonians' characteristic spirit of volunteerism and stewardship. This website provides information on what you can do at home, at work, and as a business owner to become a partner in the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds. It also provides background information on the Plan's origins and progress, and whom to contact for additional assistance.
Salmon live everywhere we do, following rivers that take them through our cities, working forests and farm lands, and coastal estuaries. All of us - private citizens, sport and commercial fishing interests, the timber industry, environmental groups, agriculture, utilities, businesses, tribes, and government agencies - must work together to make sure both people and salmon can thrive over the long term.
