AN INTERESTING "FREEBIE" EVENT >>>>>>>>

THE GREAT PACIFIC “FLOATING” GARBAGE PATCH >> Yep<< This Bad Boy is as Big as Texas & about 9 Miles Deep !!!!

Holy Toledo, You Say & Me Too !!!!!   This Giant Garbage Patch is comprised of mostly Plastic Stuff that we all use everyday & then put into our Trash Stream >< It floats around, in an elliptical pattern, somewhere between California & Hawaii >>>>> It gets worse >< There is another one of these Giant Plastic Garbage Dumps Floating around somewhere West of Hawaii & East of Japan.

Those of you who join with Ellie LaMaster, our Beach Mistress, when we do our LVH FC Quarterly Beverly Beach Litter Patrols would recognize a lot of the same kind of Plastic & Synthetic Line Stuff that we pick up on our beach.

It kind of makes you both Angry & Very Sad the way we treat our Oceans & Beaches. Ultimately, all of the Critters that Live In, On or Near the Ocean are impacted & that includes US. There is beginning to be a body of scientific evidence, that indicates some of these Plastic Ocean By Products, which are carcinogenic, may be getting into our food chain & that could begin to spoil our Whole Week-End !!!

John-

I wanted to first thank you for the thoughtfulness during the loss of my grandfather. My grandfather is not suffering anymore and is in a much better place now.

I must say the 21 gun salute is enough to make anyone choke up.

The club did an absolute fantastic job in assisting in and playing a major role in the acclimation and release of Palmer Smolts.  I want to thank you and the club on behalf of ODFW and all anglers who benefit from the Siletz fishery.  The “Palmer Smolters” are rock solid!!

Lastly,  I had a chance to watch the video that was put together by your troopers and give it a definite two thumbs up.  There was obviously a lot of hard work that went into the production and it shows.  Very informative, professional, and fun to watch.  The bar has been set high once again.  I look forward to using this video as a tool for informing the public and future interested volunteers.

Please pass this message on to the crew.

Thanks again for all you do!

Cheers,

Casey J. Deckard

We had the video packing party at the Toledo High School, the test run at the LVH Clubhouse and, FINALLY (after a year in the making), the "premiere" party and the showing of the video. Lots of hard work and fun but it's finally finished.

As Wayde said (several times) this was great fun to make but there will not be another video, so if you want your copy and you are a LVH Fishing Club member you can get one for only $5. If you are not a member it is only $10, still a great deal!

BREAKFAST MEETING 04/02/2009

The monthly breakfast meeting was held at the Agate Beach Golf Course on April 2nd. Besides the good food and good company, Lee Fries introduced Candy Garrison and she was almost unanimously voted as a new member (hers was the only dissenting vote).

There was also a round of applause and a certificate given to Dave Dinsmoor in appreciation for his past work and contributions to the LVH Fishing Club and its Baord of Directors. "The Creekmeister" has other volunteer duties, serves on the board of his community homeowner's association and he is even writing a book!! We are glad to say he will still be an active member of the LVH Fishing Club and we look forward to seeing his handsome face at all of our meetings.

Friends,
April will be a busy month for Central Coast Fly Fishers.  We have fish along plans for surf perch fishing April 10 and Cleawox Lake on April 18.  You will hear more about these events at the April 9 Monthly meeting starting at 6:30pm, Bayshore Clubhouse.  The weather report for this Saturday, April 4 is partly sunny with a chance of fish.  I have a new fly rod that I need to try out.  If you can make plans to join me on short notice, Olalla Lake at about 10am Saturday April 4 to wet a line, please let me know with a short answer to this email.  Butch plans to be there and will need a head count for his usual good cooking.
