Hello All Hands & Fish Trappers !!
The Question ?? How did Schooner Creek get its name ??
Here is the Scoop….In 1890, during a storm, a small schooner crossed the Siletz Bar and ran hard aground on the rocks on the East Side of the Bay just south of the creek. Hence, the Name Schooner Creek !! It is interesting to note, that the hull of the schooner was visible for many years. In 1894 the schooners bell was removed and taken to Grand Ronde and used as the Indian Schools Bell. This is a fascinating place we live and the history makes it even more so. THE HOOK
