White perch, pompano, dolphin biting despite heat
White perch at Lakes Norman and Wylie, dolphin off the North Carolina coast and pompano in the Hatteras Island surf appear to be the most active feeders during the current heat wave.The white perch are concentrated in schools 20-25 feet deep and are hitting earthworms, minnows, small jigs, spoons and even 'chains' of bare gold hooks."
