Not enough fishing during the winter? Need some reminders about what it is like? Here are a few photos and Linda Reed's report on a fishing trip she took with "Hudson Guide Service" last November:

High wind warning and rain advisory for last night and this morning. What us worry over a little bad weather when fishing? Nah............
Wayde and Frank came down to Waldport to pick up Linda to meet Brian at his home by 5 AM. Then on to Siltcoos Lake, launch the boat, rig the rods in the dark, get on location for daybreak fishing to the Coho hiding there, not knowing there in for some big trouble from 3 expert fishermen and 1 expert fisherwoman?
We had it all! Flat fish, wiggle warts, spinners in all colors, lures, multiple scents, salmon roe, herring, fish the surface, fish the middle and the bottom. Cast and troll the entire lake carefully and with purpose, led by Captain Brian, assisted by a capable master crew of Frank and Wayde, with Linda still in the LVHFC midshipman training program .
On your mark go!
We fished and we fished and we went through our 4 tackle boxes of the newest and best sure fire items, prettiest colored spinners you ever will see, yummy scent on everything no fish could possibly reject? OK.............time for the roe and the herring they can't possibly not want?
Hmmmmmmmmmmm? Well lets fish different levels of water, since they just don't know what they are missing down there?
Did I fail to mention the high wind, rain and even hail that besieged us as we through everything we had against these dump fish.?
Lets' try a second pass on these ignorant fish. We are experts, don't they know that? Why Linda has spent the whole week on the internet studying Coho habitat and preferences. I've even went to Salmon University to get the best training I could get for these moron fish.
It is now about 2 PM and these dumb fish have yet to succumb to our wonderful, diverse, tasty, eye pleasing offerings? We are shocked?
I get it! There must not be any fish here to be caught, right? UH....................maybe, just maybe the fish just don't want to play today? After all, it is the Sabbath and all God's creatures get a day off sometime don't they? Maybe we should have taken the day off too, ya think? Now that you mention it, I am wet, cold and tired, maybe we should just do like the fish and take the rest of the day? We all agreed.
Summation: No bites, no catches, no releases, no nibbles, no lost tackle, but we had a great time together and a break from the everyday rat race for a few hours in the eternal contest of man versus the fish. Today FISH=1 MAN=0
THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (woody wood pecker song..............)
