This in from Phil Reed.............Thank you Phil for all you do for our club.................
On Saturday, February 14, 2009, I took Matt, the LVH fishing club February drawing winner for a steelhead trip, and Electric Bill steelhead fishing on the Siletz. We knew going in it would be a slow day of catching, what with river being at summer time levels, 3 1/2' and gin clear for such a line time, but we decided to go anyway.But Shortly into the first drift, Matt hooked and bright to the new hisfirst ever steelhead, a 15 lb native buck. But when I went to take aquick picture of the fish, we learned the batteries were dead in my camera, so we sent the fish on its way up river and then changed the batteries. I took a picture of Matt and Bill, smiles still there and showing how big the fish was. Bill then hooked the next steelhead, but during the fight, determined that is was also a native and did a "LongLine Release" so as not to harm the fish in anyway, once again no pictures of that fish either. The rest of the day was spent fishing in some nice warm sunny shine, then laughing-diving for rain gear during a hail storm that turned all three of us and the drift boat white. During the day Matt shared his world famous homemade salsa and chips and Bill shared with us his wife, Kathy's, Equal outstanding homemade chocolate chip cookies. At the end of the day, Mother Nature, put on display for our enjoyment, the largest-brightest rainbow I've ever seen, it reached from one side of the river to the other side. Thanks guys for sharing a day on the river with me;
