A TRUE STORY >>>

UNLUCKY BREAK FOR HALIBUT FISHERMEN >><< News Times (Front Page) dtd. 14 May 2k10

Yes >< This Opening Day, of the 2K10 Halibut Season, was marred by a Very Close Call involving a 25 ft Recreational Fishing Boat Capsizing about 12 Miles SW of Yaquina Bay >>>>>

Once Again >< Our Terrific US Coast Guard Friends & Another Fishing Boat, in the area, were responsible for this “True Story” having a Happy Ending !!!

These Halibut Fishermen did Everything Right >< When their Situation “Went South” >> They Kept Their Cool & Had PFD’s >> a VRS Radio & Were able to provide the USCG with a Very Accurate GPS Position >> Then they had the “Smarts” to stay with their Over Turned Boat until help arrived >>>>

As you may recall >< Larry Dale, Bill Furgason & I were pleased to represent the LVH FC by assisting with these Opening Day Boat Launchings, at South Beach Marina >>>>

Suffice to say >< We ALL are Very Thankful for the Prompt Action of the Nearby Fishing Boat & our USCG Friends >< Which resulted in such a Positive Outcome, to what could have been a Terrible Tragedy for 3 Halibut Fishermen >>>           THE HOOK
