Herman the Sturgeon was an attraction for Oregon State Fair patrons from 1935 to the mid-1980s, until safety concerns forced his retirement. Herman now resides at Bonneville Hatchery.

The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Oregon State Parks, and the Oregon Wildlife Heritage Foundation have launched an effort to bring back "Herman the Sturgeon," the famous white sturgeon that drew tens of thousands of visitors at the Oregon State Fair from 1935 to the mid-80s.
