Subject: Salmonfishing off the Columbia River

John: I came back to get my pickup and want to update you on the commercial opening for King Salmon up north. Opening day on May 1st ended up for most of us the only day we got to fish because of stormy seas which forced us off the ocean for the remaining four days.

The fishing was very poor only a few fish caught and the top fish taker was seven fish with a average of six pounds, I did hear of a eight or nine score up off Westport Washington, I guess that this is to be expected as last year the first two weeks of May was poor fishing and the later part of the month was a good catching time, so now you have a participant view of what early fishing is like.

I encourage you to stay home warm and dry!!!!!!
