Newport News-Times: The bears are awake:
Every spring, the local bear population comes out of hibernation looking for a meal after a long sleep. Occasionally, they wander into populated areas to find food that might be left available - any food. These are not tame animals and they are potentially dangerous.
Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will present the residents of Lincoln County with the opportunity to learn how to live with local black bears.
